preserving memories & documenting my kids' childhood
something I care about deeply and execute very imperfectly
I really truly could begin this by waxing poetic about the passage of time and how my babies are growing up. I’ll bottle that up for another day (also, i’m sure you already know and get how I feel.) As time passes as I grapple with that, I’m super committed to preserving memories and creating the most beautiful documentation of these years as I can. Now, I KNOW that so many moms are more organized and do this like a literal professional. It ain’t me. I’m just a sentimental mother with a love for her girls and beautiful things like photos and journals and notes of funny words her kids say. But, I’m four kids in and keeping these things up for all of them, so maybe I’m doing okay.
One more encouragement. If you have a kid who is five and you’ve done nothing, don’t feel bad! It’s not too late, you didn’t mess up, just start now. Don’t think you have to go back and do the first five years. Just start now, you’ll be so glad you did.
Alas, here’s how I’m currently memory keeping.
